Miruma · Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 27, 2026

The short version

Miruma has no accounts: no email, no password, no name. Your collection, history, streak and settings stay on your phone.

To serve you topics, the app talks to our server under a random identifier that says nothing about you. No ads, no tracking, and no data is ever sold.

Who is responsible

Miruma is an app published by Juunon, which is responsible for the processing described here. For any question about your data, write to contact@juunon.fr.

What stays on your phone

The topics you've read or kept, your collection, your graph, your streak, today's energy, your interests and your preferences (theme, color, language, sounds, reminders) are stored on your device, and only there. We can't see them.

Deleting the app erases all of it. If your phone backs up its apps (iCloud, Google), this data may be included in those backups, which are handled by Apple or Google, not by us.

What goes through our server

An installation ID. It's a random code created on first launch, with no link to your identity, your device's identifiers or your store account. It's used to cap how many topics a single device can have written each day, and to keep a report from counting twice. Each day's counter deletes itself after 26 hours.

What's needed to build your home screen: your language, the topics you've already read (so we don't suggest them again) and the interests you picked at the start. They're used to answer the request; we don't store them.

Your reports. When you tap “Report a mistake”, we receive the topic, the reason you chose, your note if you write one, and your installation ID. Reports are read by a human, to fix the topic. Please don't put personal information in the note.

Your IP address, as with any connection to a server. It's used to slow down abuse (too many requests at once) and appears in our host's technical logs, which are kept for 30 days at most.

Topics written by AI

When you open a topic nobody has read yet, our server has it written by an artificial intelligence model, through Vercel AI Gateway, with providers such as Google, Anthropic or OpenAI.

The model receives the topic to write and a few related topics. Never anything about you: not your ID, not your IP address, not your reading history. Once written, the topic joins Miruma's shared library, with no trace of who opened it first.

Crashes and performance

When the app crashes or hits an error, a report goes to Sentry, our crash-reporting tool, hosted in the European Union (Germany). It contains technical information: phone model and operating system, app version, the screen involved, the technical trail of the error, performance measurements (loading times, request durations), and a random identifier of Sentry's own to count affected installs.

Sentry is set up not to record your IP address or anything that identifies you. Reports are deleted automatically after 90 days at most.

Purchases

Miruma Plus is bought through the App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled by Apple or Google: we never see your card, your name or your email address.

To confirm, restore and keep track of your subscription, the app uses RevenueCat, a specialized provider. It receives an anonymous identifier created by the app, the purchase receipts passed on by the store, and a few technical details (device type, country).

Reminders and notifications

Reminders are local notifications: the app schedules them on your phone. No server sends them and no push token is collected. You can turn them off in Settings, under Notifications.

Images

Some photos come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Your phone downloads them straight from their servers, which then see your IP address, as with any image on the web.

What Miruma doesn't do

No ads, no advertising identifier, no tracking across apps or websites, no third-party analytics. We don't sell or rent any data, and we don't combine it with other sources.

Our providers

Vercel (server hosting and access to AI models), Neon (database for topics and reports), Upstash (daily counter), Sentry (crashes, in the European Union), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Apple and Google (stores and payments). AI providers receive no personal data.

Some of them are based in the United States. Transfers outside the European Union rely on the safeguards provided by the GDPR: the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Legal bases

Running Miruma, building your home screen, limiting abuse, handling your reports and fixing crashes rely on our legitimate interest in providing a reliable app with as little data as possible. Managing your subscription relies on the performance of the contract between us.

How long we keep data

On your phone: until you delete the app. The daily counter: 26 hours. Reports: as long as it takes to review them and fix the topic. Our host's technical logs: 30 days at most. Crash reports: 90 days at most. Subscription data: as long as the subscription exists, then as long as our legal obligations require.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, erase or port your data, object to its processing or ask us to restrict it, by writing to contact@juunon.fr. Since we don't know who you are, tell us what helps find your data, for example the topic and date of a report.

If you think your rights aren't being respected, you can file a complaint with your data protection authority, in France the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Children

Miruma is made for curious adults. It isn't intended for children below the age of digital consent in their country (15 in France), and we don't knowingly collect any data about them.

Changes

The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If a change really affects your data, we'll tell you in the app.
