WaterVamp
A hydration tracker that flips every other one on its head: no clinical white, no plant to water, but black, blood red, a chibi vampire and a lot of humor. Another app I coded for myself.
The project
A water tracker that isn't afraid of the dark.
I was after an app to drink more water. All I found were clones: white background, clinical blue, doctor's office vibe, and sometimes a little plant to water for the guilt. All alike, all forgettable.
WaterVamp does the exact opposite. Black, blood red, crypt purple, a chibi vampire for a coach and a humor that never takes itself seriously. Drinking water becomes an immortal's ritual: « Drink water. Stay immortal. »
The mascot
A chibi vampire, not a plant to water.
Where others hand you a plant that wilts if you forget to drink, WaterVamp gives you a tiny adorable vampire, red cape and milk fangs, escorted by his bats. He reacts to every sip. Impossible to resist, even harder to let down.
« Track your blood », nightly goal, an inner vampire to hydrate: water tracking, rewritten gothic.
The tone
Water, but with fangs.
Everything is written tongue in cheek. The reminders whisper « Drink now, haunt later », the app swears « it's just water, probably », and the vampire happily toasts with other cult villains. A health nudge sticks far better when it makes you smile.
Water, tea, dubious potion or Gothic Soda: every drink has its icon, duly dipped in the brand's ink.
